Topic: Legal hotspots in Guernsey’s fiduciary market
Speakers: Gavin Ferguson and Alice Bricogne, Ogier LLP
In this lecture Gavin Ferguson and Alice Bricogne will look at current points of interest such as trustee fees and expenses (including in the context of “insolvent” trusts), the pitfalls of granting powers of attorney, and developments and problems in the CRS landscape.
Gavin Feguson heads Ogier’s Private Wealth team in Guernsey, and provides contentious and non-contentious fiduciary services to high net worth individuals, corporate clients and charities. He advises on all aspects of trust and foundation law, including in respect of their creation, reorganisation and administration.
He also advises on regulatory matters, general private client matters (including probate) and has an interest in Sharia compliant fiduciary structures.
Gavin is a qualified Guernsey Advocate, BVI solicitor, English solicitor and Notary Public, and holds a personal fiduciary license which permits him to act as a director, protector, enforcer, guardian and council member.
Gavin is also a STEP member and a contributing author to the STEP Certificate in Foundations.
Alice Bricogne is a senior associate in the Private Wealth team at Ogier in Guernsey. As well as advising trust companies and high net worth individuals on the creation, administration, and restructuring of all types of trusts and foundations, Alice provides advice on contentious matters. She also advises trustees on regulatory issues and has a particular interest in charitable entities.
