GAT/STEP Combined Special Event – Economic Substance – what next?
July 8 at 12:00 pm - 1:15 pm
Economic Substance – what next? A practical guide for pragmatic Trustees.
Cognisant that many fiduciaries remain confused about the impact of Economic Substance on their client base and business, GAT and STEP felt it appropriate to engage a speaker to provide an industry friendly overview of the rules and their application. We intend to provide members with a better understanding of the impact this will have on their businesses which will assist with managing their clients’ expectations and planning for the future.
Neil Hoolahan of Grant Thornton will look at economic substance from a Trustees’ perspective. Neil will set out the legal position and look at some practical approaches to the rules that businesses might make, as well as being able to provide some real life examples of these. Neil will also look at the interpretations that firms have taken and considered appropriate in relation to their client base under the new regime. He will consider the impact of professional advice received by Trustees and their obligations in this regard.
Note. Members are politely advised that this informative session is not in place to offer any bespoke advice and therefore members are encouraged to seek appropriate legal/tax advice in any cases where uncertainty remains.
This event is open to all individuals from any sector and is priced as follows;
- £20 for STEP/GAT members
- £10 for STEP student members
- £30 for Non-members of either organisation
If you are unsure if you or your company is a member of GAT please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
