Guernsey Association of Trustees
The Guernsey Association of Trustees (“GAT”) is the industry representative body for fiduciary licence holders in Guernsey. Our membership largely consists of Trust and Company service providers and individuals in the Bailiwick of Guernsey and fully regulated by the Guernsey Financial Services Commission (“GFSC”) as either Full or Personal licensees, but also extends to lawyers, accountants, compliance professionals and other individuals locally with an interest in the fiduciary industry.

The finance industry is ever evolving, however in recent years we have seen an unprecedented increase in the regulations and processes affecting the fiduciary industry where GAT has been asked to respond to consultation or felt obliged to get opine on behalf of members.
In order to properly support consultation responses and opinion, early in 2017 GAT and STEP formed a joint Technical Committee to focus on regulatory consultations and proposed amendments. They have submitted responses to a number of these on behalf of the fiduciary industry such as the Enforcement engagement and the GFSC Handbook. In addition during the last year GAT has been a significant contributor to practical discussions on matters such as the implementation of the Guernsey Beneficial Ownership Register and the FRR Rules.
A GAT membership enables you to influence the fiduciary industry in Guernsey. Through our Association you can comment and help to shape local regulatory and legislative issues affecting the industry. You also have the opportunity to voice opinion about external issues that affect Guernsey.
Our regular events keep you up to date with industry changes and developments. At these exclusive members-only events you can network with peers and GAT Sponsors, keep up to speed with industry news and get guidance on the practical application of changes impacting your business. During 2018 GAT intends to introduce a number of additional events which will be relevant and of interest to many of its members.
Members receive monthly newsletters delivering relevant news, events and sponsor articles.
Our committee members bring a shared wealth of knowledge and experience to the Association. In July 2020 Rhona Humphreys took the helm as Chair of the GAT Committee, Rupert Morris and Charlotte Bates are both Deputy Chairs and Alasdair McLaren remains as Treasurer.
